This quote from legendary manager and Factory records founder TONY WILSON (R.I.P.) says it all. A CERTAIN RATIO is one of the essential bands in the history of rock music. They formed in 1977 in Manchester, England. Together with NEW ORDER, JOY DIVISION and the HAPPY MONDAYS, A CERTAIN RATIO embossed the sound of the legendary Factory label and no other than MADONNA supported them at their 81 gig at the Danceteria. While originally part of the punk rock movement, they soon added funk and dance elements to their sound. They remain a huge influence for followers such as THE RAPTURE or as Relish Recordings label owner Robi Insinna aka HEADMAN, who managed to release the beautiful “A Way To Escape” after a silence of 10 years on the first Relish Compilation.
